Washington DC is an epicenter of Archives. In my definition Archive means not only the institutional storing of historical records, but moreover the storing and keeping of things and information in general. Archives in this sense belong to the Cultural Memory and include stored and collected objects. Within walking distance of the National Mall there is the National Archive, the Smithsonian Institute (which includes 11 museums along the mall), the Library of Congress and a few other Museums.
