ÖkoRAUSCH Festival
Matthias Ries was invited to talk about the concept and results of his two Master-projects “Postapocalyptic Artifacts” and “Car-free Europe” at the ökoRAUSCH festivals “Design against Desaster” series of lectures. Both projects were exhibited at the DMY festival in Berlin earlier in 2013 under the title “Apocalypse-free Europe”.
Once more our world is undergoing a radical change. Which direction we‘ll be taking is uncertain, yet one thing is for sure: carrying on as before won‘t be possible. In the context of ubiquitous crises, students from the two master courses „Post-apocalyptic Artifacts“ and „Car-free Europe“ are investigating global and social correlations and derive from the perspective of product development and spatial art conclusions, concepts and visions. Post-apocalyptic scenarios and new visions of mobility and space form the two poles for this intense discourse.
