Ambiente Trade Fair

The showcased designs are a selection of works from a collaboration between the Faculty of Design at the HAWK University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hildesheim and the Dutch packaging manufacturer PaperFoam. PaperFoam is also the name of their innovative material and manufacturing process that allows for the creation of sturdy, colorful, smooth and sustainable injectionmolded parts. The material ist one hundred percent home-compostable and degrades completely within a few weeks in any natural environment or can be recycled with paper.
As the potential of PaperFoam is much more than being a sustainable packaging solution, the students discussed and designed possible other applications and scenarios for the material. The task was to »Rethink PaperFoam«.

At this years Ambiente trade fair in Frankfurt a. M., Germany, we showed a selection of six designs from the PaperFoam project, as well as the two Bachelortheses »Orbis« from Luise Seifert and »ISO16« from Thorben Heuer. As the largest consumer goods fair in the world, the Ambiente was the perfect setting to test our ideas and share our vision of a more sustainable approach to product design and consumer goods s in general.
